Farscape
Overview
The show Farscape has recently been axed by the Sci-Fi Channel. However, this show has had 4 series, and this makes it one of the more successful Sci-Fi shos on tele. Taking a risk by casting lesser known actors who have blossomed on the show, the Sci-Fi channel commisioned this show. The show itself follows the story of a group of outlaws onboard a living ship called Moya. The story being that John Crichton, an asronaut from Earth accidently fell through a wormhole on a NASA mission to the far side of the galaxy. Here he met up with the crew of Moya and has slowly been accepted into the fold. The story follows the exploits of the Moya crew, and this intersting storyline allowing with the excellent quality of acting has made Farscape a firm favourite with Sci-Fi fans everywhere.

John Crichton
John Crichton, unusually considering he is not the captain, is the main character in this show. A NASA astronaut, we follow his exploits as he gains acceptance into the crew, and becomes an integral part of it. A cool guy, he is one of the few on board Moya who can keep his head during a crisis and often it is his course of action that is followed. Played by Ben Browder, we see him engage in different relationships with the crew, with his love interest Aeryn Sun, his nemisis, Scorpius, and is especially close to Captain D'Argo. An interesting character and one who can be relied upon to throw up some interesting plots.

Aeryn Sun
Officer Aeryn Sun is the love interest of John Crichton. However, far from being simple, their relationship has been a rollercoaster ride, providing many interesting storylines throughout the 4 series. Played by talented actress Claudia Black (Pitch Black), she is a former Peacekeeper officer. Now having turned her back on them, she must find a way of living with the crew on board Moya. Trust is not something she does easily but slowly finds herself becoming more integral within Moya, and can hold her own in any physical fight.
The Crew
The crew of Moya are a strange mix of aliens, all outlaws in one way or another. Captained by the aggresive D'Argo, and controlled by Pilot, the crew have their own unique method of 'getting the job done'. With the sexually aggressive Chiana, and the slightly weird Noranti as a healer, combined with various other characters are the main reason for the success of this show. Each character has very different features, giving the viewers and wider range of views and keeps them coming back for more. In fact when this show was axed, there was a huge public responce, bombarding the company with letters and emails to try and get a new series commisioned. Despite this however, I'm sure that Farscape will be rememberred for many years to come.
